Pochitalov Vasily Vasilyevich

1902 — 1973
Vasily Vasilyevich Pochitalov (1902–1973) was a Soviet artist and distinguished educator, Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1930, he graduated from VKhUTEIN, specializing in easel painting under A.V. Shevchenko. He became a member of the Moscow branch of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR in 1936. From 1936 to 1948, he taught at the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute, where he and S.V. Gerasimov oversaw the institute's first graduating class. His students included G.M. Korzhev, E.I. Zverkov, V.M. Sidorov, and other prominent artists. From 1948, he served as an associate professor and dean of the Faculty of Applied Arts at the Moscow Textile Institute. His works are held in the collections of major regional museums in Russia.
