Murnieks Laimdots

Laimdots Murnieks was a Latvian painter. He studied at pedagogical institutes in Cēsis and Jelgava (1938–1944), and later at the Faculty of Painting of the Art Academy of Latvia (1946–1953). He began participating in exhibitions in 1953 and worked as a designer at the "Māksla" combine (1953–1982). A member of the USSR Union of Artists, he was actively involved in the union's public affairs. He worked in monumental and easel painting, creating landscapes, still lifes, and portraits using oil, pastel, and tempera. He held several solo exhibitions in Riga, Liepāja, Vilnius, Moscow, Rostock, and Tokyo.
