Mokritsky Apollon Nikolayevich

1810 — 1870
Apollon Nikolayevich Mokritsky (1810–1870) was a painter and educator, known for his portraits, landscapes, and historical and genre paintings. From 1835 to 1839, he studied at the Academy of Arts under K. P. Bryullov. In 1839, he received a small gold medal and the title of non-ranked artist for his painting "Roman Woman Breastfeeding Her Father in Prison." From 1841 to 1849, he worked in Italy. He was named an academician in 1849 for his "Portrait of Metropolitan Nikanor of Novgorod."
