Minaev Vladimir Nikolaevich

Vladimir Nikolaevich Minaev (1912–1993) was a Soviet graphic artist, People's Artist of Russia, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, and Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1940, he graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute, where he studied under K. N. Istomin, I. I. Chekmazov, and I. E. Grabar. During the Great Patriotic War, he served as a front-line newspaper artist, and in 1945, he worked at the M. B. Grekov Studio of Military Artists. Minaev is known as an illustrator of classical literature and an author of graphic series on historical-revolutionary and contemporary themes. In 1967, he was awarded the Silver Medal of the USSR Academy of Arts for his illustrations to N. Ostrovsky's novel 'How the Steel Was Tempered'. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and various medals.
