Liberov Alexey Nikolayevich

Alexey Nikolayevich Liberov (1911–2001) was a People's Artist of the RSFSR, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a professor, and a laureate of the I. E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR. He graduated from the All-Russian Academy of Arts in 1939, studying under A. I. Savinov and A. E. Karev. From 1938, he taught at the Leningrad Secondary Art School. A master of landscape painting, he worked primarily in pastel. His work is dedicated to the nature and people of Siberia. In 1980, he was awarded the State Prize for a series of pastel landscapes, including 'Spring on the Irtysh' and 'Ugryum-River'. He was a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
