Kugach Mikhail Yuryevich

Mikhail Yuryevich Kugach is an Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts. From 1949 to 1956, he studied at the Moscow Secondary Art School, and in 1962, he graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (workshop of Professor P. D. Pokarzhevsky). He joined the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1965. In 1967–1968, he completed an internship at the creative workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts under Professor B. V. Ioganson. Since 1963, he has been a regular participant in Union of Artists exhibitions. From 1987 to 1989, he served as the artistic director of the Moscow Art School in memory of 1905. Since 1998, he has chaired the 'Moskvorechye' art association. He lives and works in the Tver region, near the I. E. Repin 'Academic Dacha'.
