Kibrik Evgeny Adolfovich

1906 — 1978
Evgeny Adolfovich Kibrik (1906–1978) was a Soviet graphic artist, full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, and People's Artist of the USSR. He studied at the Odessa Art Institute (1922–1925) and Vkhutein in Leningrad. He taught at the Repin Institute (1942–1943) and the Surikov Moscow Art Institute (1953–1976), and led the creative graphic workshop of the USSR Academy of Arts (1976–1978). He is known as an illustrator of classical literature and a creator of easel series on historical-revolutionary themes, working in lithography, black watercolor, and charcoal drawing. He was a laureate of the USSR State Prize (1948) for his series of drawings "V. I. Lenin in 1917" and received a gold medal from the USSR Academy of Arts (1964) for his illustrations to A. S. Pushkin's "Boris Godunov." He was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.
