Grabar Igor Emanuilovich

1871 — 1960
Igor Emanuilovich Grabar (1871–1960) was a prominent Russian painter, art historian, museum professional, and People's Artist of the USSR. He studied at the Academy of Arts under I. E. Repin and at the A. Ažbe studio in Munich. He served as the director of the Tretyakov Gallery (1913–1925) and founded the Central Restoration Workshops. He was the author of fundamental works on art history. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
