Fedotov Pavel Andreyevich
1815 — 1852
Pavel Andreyevich Fedotov (1815–1852) was a painter and one of the founders of critical realism in Russian art. He is the author of famous paintings such as 'The Fresh Cavalier', 'The Major's Courtship', and 'The Aristocrat's Breakfast'. In 1835, he studied at the Academy of Arts under A. I. Sauerweid and received advice from K. P. Bryullov. In 1847, he was named an 'appointee' for his painting 'The Fastidious Bride', and in 1848 he became an academician.
