Nikolai Ivanovich Osenev was a Soviet painter, landscape artist, and genre painter, known for his works on historical and revolutionary themes. He was a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
He studied at the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Art Institute under S. V. Gerasimov, I. E. Grabar, and A. A. Deineka.
Osenev began exhibiting his work in 1949. By the early 1950s, he was actively engaged in plein air painting, and by the mid-1950s, he had established himself as a prominent master of the compositional landscape painting. During the 1960s, he traveled abroad (to England, Italy, France, Sweden, Iraq, and other countries), producing a series of works—primarily architectural and topographical—inspired by these travels. His works are held in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Penza Regional Art Gallery, and various other museums and private collections.
