Boris Valentinovich Shcherbakov was a Russian painter, People's Artist of the USSR, and a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. In 1939, he graduated from the Repin Institute of the All-Russian Academy of Arts in Leningrad (I. I. Brodsky's studio). He was an author of portraits of contemporaries and thematic landscape cycles. In 1952, he was awarded the USSR State Prize for his participation in the creation of the painting "Meeting of the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences" and other works. A veteran of the Great Patriotic War, he was awarded several USSR medals.
