The Werfel factory was founded in 1842 by bronze master Fyodor Werfel. The enterprise reached its peak under the leadership of his son, Karl Werfel, a graduate of the Imperial Academy of Arts. The firm specialized in artistic bronze and stone carving, often working on commissions for Carl Fabergé. From 1895, the factory was a supplier to the Imperial Court. Its product range included cabinet sculpture, animalistic works, and interior objects in the "Russian style." In 1914, the factory was acquired by the Fabergé firm.
