Nikolai Mikhailovich Romadin was a Soviet painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1971), and full member of the USSR Academy of Arts (1967). He graduated from Vkhutemas-Vkhutein (1923–1930). He worked in historical-revolutionary and interior genres, but gained greatest fame as a landscape master depicting the Russian countryside (the series "Volga — Russian River," 1944–1945, USSR State Prize, 1946). His works are characterized by a subtle rendering of evening and night lighting. He was awarded the Order of Lenin and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
