Martynov Andrey Efimovich

Martynov Andrey Efimovich (1768–1826) was a prominent Russian landscape painter, draftsman, and engraver whose work spans the period from Classicism to early Romanticism. A student of S. F. Shchedrin and an Academician of the Academy of Arts (1795), he served as the chief artist for Count Yu. A. Golovkin's embassy to Mongolia in 1805, which formed the basis for his famous graphic series "Views of Russia and Mongolia." He created decorative murals for the Pavlovsk Palace, Gatchina, and St. Michael's Castle, as well as the lithograph series "Views of St. Petersburg and its Environs."
