Kuindzhi Arkhip Ivanovich
1841 — 1910
Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi (1841–1910) was a prominent Russian landscape painter and educator. He studied in the studio of I.K. Aivazovsky and at the Imperial Academy of Arts. He is the author of famous canvases such as 'Ukrainian Night', 'Birch Grove', and 'Moonlit Night on the Dnieper'. From 1875, he was a member of the Peredvizhniki (Itinerants). In 1892, he received the title of professor, and from 1894 to 1897, he headed the landscape studio at the Higher Art School of the Academy of Arts.
