Volkov Valentin Viktorovich
1881 — 1964
Valentin Viktorovich Volkov was a Soviet painter and People's Artist of the Byelorussian SSR (1955). He graduated from the Penza Art School and the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. He created sketches for murals in Petrograd (1918) and a portrait of V. I. Lenin (1926). His primary genres were portraiture and thematic painting ("University Students," 1947; "Minsk, July 3, 1944," 1946–1955). He taught at the Vitebsk Art College and the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, where he became a professor. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and various medals.
