Surikov Vasily Ivanovich

1848 — 1916
Vasily Ivanovich Surikov was a prominent Russian painter, a master of large-scale historical canvases such as "Morning of the Streltsy Execution," "Boyarynya Morozova," and "The Conquest of Siberia by Yermak," as well as a portraitist. From 1869 to 1875, he studied at the Academy of Arts under P. I. Shamshin and P. P. Chistyakov. From 1881 to 1907, he was a member of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions and participated in the exhibitions of the Union of Russian Artists. He became a full member of the Academy of Arts in 1893 and an academician in 1895.
