Sokolov Ilya Alekseevich
1890 — 1968
Ilya Alekseevich Sokolov was a graphic artist, People's Artist of the RSFSR, and corresponding member of the Academy of Arts. From 1909–1911, he studied at A. P. Bolshakov's private school of painting, and from 1919–1922, he studied at the graphic workshop of the Moscow Proletkult under V. D. Dalileev. He worked primarily in color linocut, watercolor, and gouache. He created memorial series dedicated to V. I. Lenin and A. M. Gorky, as well as industrial landscapes and portraits of workers. In 1951, he was awarded the USSR State Prize for a series of color linocuts on socialist labor.
