Shilov Alexander Maksovich

Alexander Maksovich Shilov is a Russian realist painter and master of portraiture in a traditional romantic style. He is a People's Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, and a laureate of the I. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR. He graduated from the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (1973), where he studied under A. I. Laktionov. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR since 1976. He is the author of an extensive portrait gallery of cultural figures and clergy, as well as landscape works. Notable works include: "Portrait of Olenka" (1981), "Portrait of Maris Liepa" (1976), "Homeless" (1993), and others.
