Roller Andrey Adamovich

1805 — 1891
Andrey Adamovich Roller (Andreas Leonard) was a painter and theater artist. He created set designs for productions including "Ruslan and Ludmila," "The Maid of the Danube," and "Der Freischütz." He studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and worked as an assistant stage machinist in Munich, Vienna, and Berlin starting in 1821. In 1834, he was invited to St. Petersburg as a decorator and chief machinist for the Imperial Theaters. In 1837, he received a gold medal for his work on the Winter Palace. He became an Academician in 1839 and a professor in 1856.
