Popov Andrey Andreyevich

Andrey Andreyevich Popov (1832–1896) was a Russian genre painter. In 1846, he entered the Imperial Academy of Arts, where he studied under M. N. Vorobyov and B. P. Willewalde. He specialized in scenes from folk life, for which he was awarded a large gold medal. After completing his academic education, he traveled abroad. Early in his career, he enjoyed recognition from professionals and collectors, but from the 1870s his activity declined, and he ceased participating in exhibitions in 1873.
