Vladimir Nikolayevich Korbakov was a painter, graphic artist, and People's Artist of the Russian Federation. In 1941, he volunteered for the front, receiving the Order of Glory (3rd class) and the Order of the Patriotic War. He received his professional education at the Art Studio for Disabled Veterans of the Great Patriotic War (1945–1951) and the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute (1951–1958). A member of the Union of Artists since 1959, he chaired the Vologda branch of the Union of Artists of Russia from 1964 to 1977. Korbakov's work reflects key trends in Russian painting of the second half of the 20th century; his pieces are held in the Vologda Regional Art Gallery and are frequently exhibited in Russia and abroad.
